Rain!

Rainy season has sprung with a vengence - 50 mile an hour winds, 5 inches of rain, lots of downed trees and powerlines. So the stream (actually Oak Spring) which runs thru our property starts to rage. Why go far when you can take pictures like this from your porch in between the raindrops?

Sunrise in Sleepy Hollow

Every morning we get treated to the most wonderful sunrise from our porch. Yesterday there was a cold front coming in from the Pacific, which always makes for some great lighting. Posted by Picasa

Christmas Tree Hunting

Inspired by seeing old videos of Kris' family cutting down a Christmas tree, we packed the van and headed north to Petaluma to start our own holiday tradition. After much searching ;-) we found the perfect tree which sits waiting to be adorned. On the way home we took the scenic route and timed it perfectly for sunset and oysters at Hog Island.

Proud Boy Looses First Tooth

After a few days of waiting all it took was a little wrestling to coax out the first tooth. A very proud boy. We'll see what the tooth fairy brings tonight.

Two wheel cruisin'

Go Ben and Jeremy! Despite my sometimes lack of patience (;-). Jeremy is now really confident on the bike. Here he was riding with a group of bigger kids and really loving it. Ben, who's never been one for subtlety, says can i ride my bike and without going thru the training wheel stage holds his own on two wheels too (though stopping still is a bit of an issue). These pics were taken over two days of riding around Marin. Wednesday is international ride to school day so we're already making plans.

Weekend in Carmel

Over Labor Day weekend (isn't that an oxymoron?) we went down to beautiful Carmel, California. It was our second time there this summer and we hit all our favorite spots. By far our favorite beach is the Carmel River beach - totally uncrowded and a fresh water lagoon with lots of shoreline to explore. We also hit not-so-secret Point Lobos where i got in my birthday run amid the incredible scenary and did some very serious tidepooling. (though watch out for the poison oak which is everywhere). Finally we did the maize maze at Earthbound Farms. All this was punctuated by having a georgeous room overlooking the ocean at the Highlands Inn.

Infineon Raceway

Ben was given a choice of things to do for his 4th birthday and the clear favorite was a day at the races. So we packed the car (not the Prius) and all doned our ear plugs. None of us had been to a race so we were all very surprised at how much fun it was. Very friendly people too.
