Morning on Oak Springs

I've been passing by this beautiful old tree and rock on my morning run. This morning, despite sub-30 degree weather I got up the hill early with my camera to try and capture the stunning light. More pictures are here.

Winter break in Carlsbad

Carlsbad was the destination for our now annual winter trip with the grandparents. It was a great launching pad for high energy kid places like Legoland, San Diego Wild Animal Park and Seaworld (I believe!). This guy apparently came about 30 years ago and hasn't left. Rain!

Rainy season has sprung with a vengence - 50 mile an hour winds, 5 inches of rain, lots of downed trees and powerlines. So the stream (actually Oak Spring) which runs thru our property starts to rage. Why go far when you can take pictures like this from your porch in between the raindrops?

San Francisco Exploratorium

Over the holiday break we visited the world-class San Francisco Exploratorium. Its sort of like a museum but very interactive. Jeremy and Ben are both saying they want to become scientists now.

Sunrise in Sleepy Hollow

Every morning we get treated to the most wonderful sunrise from our porch. Yesterday there was a cold front coming in from the Pacific, which always makes for some great lighting.

Christmas Tree Hunting

Inspired by seeing old videos of Kris' family cutting down a Christmas tree, we packed the van and headed north to Petaluma to start our own holiday tradition. After much searching ;-) we found the perfect tree which sits waiting to be adorned. On the way home we took the scenic route and timed it perfectly for sunset and oysters at Hog Island.

Jeremy's Council of Friends

The council got together for some pre-birthday party activities. From left to right - Will, Jeremy, Alex, Brendan and Josh. A great time was had by all.
